Clusia privacy hedge cost per linear foot
The privacy hedge we install most in Palm Beach County: thick, glossy, salt-tolerant, and a solid wall within about a year at the right size. Cost per foot at today's prices:
| Size (height today) | Spacing | Delivered | Installed | Solid privacy in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3-Gallon (8-16") | 1.5 ft apart | ~$5/ft | ~$10/ft | 2–3 years |
| 7-Gallon (24-36") | 2 ft apart | ~$15/ft | ~$22/ft | 1½–2 years |
| 15-Gallon (4-5ft) | 3 ft apart | ~$20/ft | ~$35/ft | about 1 year |
| 25-Gallon (5-6ft) | 4 ft apart | ~$30/ft | ~$51/ft | 6–12 months |
Example: a 100 ft Clusia hedge in 15-Gallon (4-5ft) is 34 plants — about $3,570 installed (no sales tax on installs) or $2,040 delivered for you to plant. A 50 ft run is roughly half that; delivery is free in Palm Beach County.
Per-foot = plant price ÷ recommended spacing. Installed includes digging, planting and first watering (no soil or mulch). Prices change with the season; the planner above is always current.
Podocarpus privacy hedge cost per linear foot
The neat, formal one — a narrow, dense green wall for driveways and side yards. Slower than Clusia, so size matters more. Cost per foot at today's prices:
| Size (height today) | Spacing | Delivered | Installed | Solid privacy in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3-Gallon (8-16") | 1 ft apart | ~$8/ft | ~$15/ft | 3+ years |
| 7-Gallon (24-36") | 1.5 ft apart | ~$20/ft | ~$30/ft | 2–3 years |
| 15-Gallon (4-5ft) | 2 ft apart | ~$30/ft | ~$52/ft | 1–2 years |
| 25-Gallon (5-6ft) | 2.5 ft apart | ~$48/ft | ~$82/ft | about 1 year |
Example: a 100 ft Podocarpus hedge in 15-Gallon (4-5ft) is 50 plants — about $5,250 installed (no sales tax on installs) or $3,000 delivered for you to plant. A 50 ft run is roughly half that; delivery is free in Palm Beach County.
Per-foot = plant price ÷ recommended spacing. Installed includes digging, planting and first watering (no soil or mulch). Prices change with the season; the planner above is always current.

Privacy hedge questions, answered
How much does a privacy hedge cost in South Florida?
It depends on the plant, how tall you want it on day one, and the length. Using our current prices, a Clusia privacy hedge runs from about $10 per linear foot installed for small starter plants up to about $51 per foot for 25-gallon plants that give you privacy right away. For example, 100 ft of 15-gallon Clusia (already 4–5 ft tall) is about $3,570 installed, and roughly $2,040 if we just deliver the plants. Draw your line above and the planner prices your exact length, including delivery.
How do I get a privacy hedge quote without someone coming out?
That is what this page is for. Type your address, trace where the hedge goes on the satellite photo, pick a plant and size, and the price you see is the price checkout charges — plants, installation if you want it, and delivery for your ZIP. No site visit, no waiting on a callback. If you already know your footage, there is a box to type it instead.
Which hedge should I pick?
If you want privacy fast and low fuss, pick Clusia — it is the go-to South Florida privacy hedge, grows about 1–2 ft a year, handles sun, salt and drought, and fills in quickly. If you want a neater, more formal look (a straight green wall you can keep narrow), pick Podocarpus — slower, about a foot a year, but tidy and dense. Shady spot? Viburnum. Right on the water? Sea Grape. When in doubt, Clusia.
How tall will it be, and when will I actually have privacy?
The size you buy is the height on day one — a 15-gallon Clusia is already 4–5 ft, a 25-gallon is 5–6 ft. Privacy comes when the plants grow together into one wall: at our recommended spacing that is roughly a year for 15-gallon Clusia, 6–12 months for 25-gallon, and longer for smaller pots. Each size card shows the estimate. Once established you trim it to whatever height you like — most people keep Clusia at 6–10 ft.
How many plants do I need for a privacy hedge?
Divide your length by the spacing for the size you are buying and round up. Clusia is planted 1.5 ft apart as 3-gallon plants, 2 ft as 7-gallon, 3 ft as 15-gallon and 4 ft as 25-gallon, so 100 ft of 15-gallon Clusia is 34 plants. The planner does the math for you as you draw, and the "?" next to the count shows the exact calculation.
Should I plant them closer together so it fills in faster?
It helps, up to a point. Closer spacing closes the gaps between plants sooner, so the row reads as one wall earlier — but it will not make the plants taller any faster, and much tighter than our spacing they start competing for light and water and grow thinner. The biggest lever is size: a 25-gallon row is private almost from day one. If you want a little extra insurance, add a spare plant or two in the summary.
What exactly is included with installation?
We dig, plant, and give everything its first watering, and installed plants come with a 3-month warranty. Installation is scheduled within 10–20 days of your order. Soil and mulch are not included. Pricing assumes clean ground or grass — if there is an old hedge, roots, rock or anything to remove first, there is an added fee for that.
How accurate is the measurement from the map?
Close, but not a tape measure. Satellite imagery and a fingertip on a screen usually land within a few feet on a typical run — think plus or minus one plant. You pay for the plants you order, and we bring exactly that many and space them evenly along your line, so a slightly longer or shorter run just means slightly wider or tighter spacing. If you would rather be safe than sorry, add a spare plant or two before you check out.
Where exactly will the hedge go?
Along the line you draw, planted a couple of feet inside your property line and off any fence so the plants have room to fill out. Do not stress about tracing it perfectly — our crew places the row properly on the day. One heads-up: many HOAs and some cities limit hedge height in front yards, so check your rules before you plan a 10-ft front hedge.
How do I take care of it after it is planted?
Water is everything the first month. Water deeply every day for the first 2–3 weeks, then every other day for the next month or so, then ease off to a normal schedule — sprinklers that reach the row make this easy. Feed with a slow-release landscape fertilizer about a month after planting and a few times a year after that. Trim once it is established to keep the shape you want. If a plant looks stressed, text us a photo — we would rather catch it early.
Do I need to be home for the installation?
No. We just need access to the area (gate code, dogs inside, sprinklers off that morning). We text you the day before and send photos when we are done.
Where do you deliver and install?
We deliver hedge plants anywhere in Florida within our delivery range, with free delivery across Palm Beach County, and our crews install throughout South Florida. Enter your address above and the planner shows your exact delivery cost — or tells you up front if an address is outside our range.
Is my price final, or will there be surprises at checkout?
What you see here is what checkout charges: plants, installation if selected, and delivery for your ZIP (free in Palm Beach County). The only thing that can add cost is site work we cannot see from a satellite — removals, roots or rock — and we tell you before we do any of it.
