A slender gray trunk ringed with leaf scars, topped by a smooth green to reddish crownshaft and a full crown of arching, feather-shaped fronds 10–12 feet long with slightly drooping leaflets.
Cream-colored flower stalks and small dark fruit appear beneath the crown.
